Jackson’s Two-Homer Night Leads 66ers to 9-3 Win

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino used a six-run first-inning outburst to roll the Fresno Grizzlies 9-3 at San Manuel Stadium on Saturday night. Inland Empire (10-12) shortstop Jeremiah Jackson blasted a pair of two-run homers on the night and now leads Low-A West with 21 RBI.

With one out in the bottom of the first Jeremy Arocho singled for the Sixers against Fresno starter Mitchell Kilkenny (1-2). Jackson then stepped to the plate and launched an opposite field drive over the wall and netting in right field and on to adjacent E Street for a 2-0 Sixers’ advantage. After an error and a popout put one on with two out the 66ers then reeled off four straight hits including a RBI single from Caleb Scires, two-run double from Edwin Yon and RBI single from Jose Guzman for a 6-0 opening inning lead. Jack Kochanowicz (1-1) was strong on the mound going a career-high five innings allowing an unearned run on two hits with no walks and four Ks; the righty earned his first professional win. Fresno (14-9) chiseled into the lead with a run in the second and two more in the sixth but Guzman’s second RBI single of the night in the bottom of the sixth put IE up 7-3. The 66ers tacked on two more on Jackson’s towering homer to left field in the seventh made it 9-3. Emilker Guzman tossed two scoreless innings fanning four to finish off Fresno. After dropping the first three games of the six-game set (all one-run decisions), the 66ers have a chance to earn a series-split on Sunday.
