66ers Move into First Place Tie with Offensive Bonanza

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino set multiple season highs including runs scored and hits in Sunday's 12-2 shellacking of the Lancaster JetHawks. The win moved the 66ers (22-22) back to .500 on the season and into a first-place tie with Lancaster for the Cal League

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino set multiple season highs including runs scored and hits in Sunday's 12-2 shellacking of the Lancaster JetHawks. The win moved the 66ers (22-22) back to .500 on the season and into a first-place tie with Lancaster for the Cal League Southern Division's top spot.
The 66ers set or matched season highs with 12 runs, 19 hits, three homers, five doubles, two triples, 12 RBI, ten extra-base hits and had three players Luis Rengifo, Jared Walsh and Jordan Zimmerman notch four-hit games. The Sixers entered the contest have collected just two four-hit efforts in their prior 41 games. Walsh smashed a pair of homers as well as a double with four RBI on the day; the Univ. of Georgia Bulldog leads the league with 13 homers and 36 RBI. Zimmerman drilled a two-run homer as well as his double and finished with a season-high five RBI. Rengifo's 4-for-5 included a double and raised his average to .323 a day after he took four walks in a game. Jack Kruger, Jonah Todd and Brandon Sandoval each had two-hit games with Sandoval drilling a double and triple. Joe Gatto (5-2) earned the win for the Sixers tossing 5.2 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits and three walks and five Ks. Aaron Cox and Jonah Wesely tossed the final 3.1 innings in shutout fashion.
