66ers Extend Angels Affiliation

San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers and the Los Angeles Angels have agreed to extend their Player Development Contract through the end of the 2016 baseball season, team officials announced today. The two-year extension will make the Inland Empire the home of future Halos stars until September 30, 2016.

"The Inland Empire 66ers are a class organization from top to bottom," said Angels Director of Player Development Bobby Scales. "Having an affiliate less than 50 miles away provides us an opportunity to both connect with Angel fans in the Inland Empire and give those same fans a look into the future of Angels baseball. We are very excited to be extending our player development agreement through the 2016 season."

The announcement comes on the heels of the Inland Empire 66ers sixth California League title and their first as an Angels affiliate. For the High-A Angels, it was the first California League crown since 1996.

"The Angels have given 66ers fans some outstanding talent to watch since we joined forces in 2011," said Inland Empire 66ers General Manager Joe Hudson. "From current Angel Kole Calhoun to reigning league MVP Zach Borenstein the Inland Empire has enjoyed watching many top prospects and we look forward to helping the Angels develop additional future stars in the years to come."

 The 66ers open their California League Title defense when they visit the High Desert Mavericks on Thursday, April 3rd. The team's home opener will occur a week later on Thursday, April 10th when they welcome the Mavericks to San Manuel Stadium.
