Kruger's Four Hits Not Enough As 66ers Fall to Storm 8-4

Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino fell to Lake Elsinore Storm 8-4 in the opener of a three-game set on Tuesday. Jack Kruger had the Sixers' second four-hit game of the year (Jordan Zimmerman 4/13 at Rancho Cucamonga) as the 66ers fell to 18-21 on the year and out of first place in the California League's Southern Division.
The Storm (17-22) earned its fourth consecutive win and has taken five of the eight meetings between the two clubs this season. Eight-of-the nine batters in the order had at least one hit for the Storm lead by Matt Batten's 3-for-3, 2B, 3RBI performance and Buddy Reed's 3-for-5 with a double and a triple. Reed is now batting .588 versus Inland Empire in eight games. Lake Elsinore scored in five of the first six innings as the Sixers allowed 15 hits (five doubles and a triple included) matching a season-high. Joe Gatto took the loss for the Sixers and fell to 4-2 allowing four runs in 3.2 IP. 19-year-old southpaw Adrian Morejon (2-3) won his second consecutive start for the Storm surrendering two earned runs in five innings. Jahmai Jones was 2-for-4 with a double while Kevin Williams Jr. pitched in a RBI double for the Sixers only other extra-base hit. Luis Rengifo and Jared Walsh had hit-streaks of 11 games and eight games respectively halted.
