Generals, Mariners renew PDC through 2016

47 former Generals have played for the Seattle Mariners since 2007

JACKSON, TENN (September 11, 2014). - The Seattle Mariners and the Jackson Generals have agreed to extend the Player Development Contract (PDC) to run through the 2016 season.

47 former Generals have appeared in games for the Mariners since 2007 and 24 since 2012. Currently, there are 18 former Generals on Seattle's active roster, including 2014 American League All-Star third baseman, Kyle Seager.

The Generals appeared in the 2012 Southern League Championship Series and were led by current Mariners Brad Miller, Stefen Romero, Jesus Sucre, Mike Zunino, Brandon Maurer, Yoervis Medina, James Paxton and Taijuan Walker.

The Mariners are contending for a spot in the 2014 AL playoffs thanks in part to many former Generals. Seattle is currently two games behind Oakland for the top A.L. Wild Card spot and also remain a half a game back of Detroit for the second AL Wild Card.

2015 and 2016 will mark the ninth and tenth years of partnership between the Seattle Mariners and Jackson Baseball Club, which began in 2007. Jackson was affiliated with the Chicago Cubs from 1998-2006.
