LANCASTER, Calif. - The California League announced Tuesday that nine members of the Lancaster JetHawks have been selected to represent the South Division in the California League All-Star Game on Tuesday, June 20 at Recreation Park in Visalia.
The JetHawks lead the Cal League in all-star team selectees and will have at least five players in the South's starting lineup.
Lancaster's all-star starters include 1B Brian Mundell , 2B Garrett Hampson , SS Brendan Rodgers , OF Sam Hilliard and OF Wes Rogers . The club's all-star position player reserves include C Hamlet Marte and IF/OF Mylz Jones . RHP Craig Schlitter and RHP Peter Lambert will represent the JetHawks pitching staff. The starting pitchers have not yet been named for the contest.
2B Garrett Hampson: Leads JetHawks and ranks second in the Cal League with 54 runs scored. Leads all second baseman with a .306 batting average and 16 stolen bases.
OF Sam Hilliard: Ranks second in the Cal League with 11 home runs, 49 RBI, a .913 OPS and 17 stolen bases.
IF/OF Mylz Jones: Tied for third in the Cal League with 16 stolen bases. Batting .299 with four home runs and 30 RBI.
RHP Peter Lambert: Leads JetHawks and ranks fourth in the Cal League with 80 strikeouts over 78.0 innings pitched. Has two starts of 10 strikeouts this season.
C Hamlet Marte: Batting .337 with five home runs and 20 RBI through 26 games this season.
1B Brian Mundell: Leads the Cal League with 54 RBI through 62 games this season. Tied for second with 11 home runs.
OF Wes Rogers: Leads the Cal League with 33 stolen bases in 40 attempts. Tied for sixth with 16 doubles.
SS Brendan Rodgers: Leads the Cal League in batting average (.400), OPS (1.115) and total bases (132). Tied for second with 11 home runs and 19 doubles.
RHP Craig Schlitter: Leads the Cal League with eight wins (8-1) and ranks second with a 2.35 ERA. Has recorded quality starts in 10 of 12 starts this season.
Voting for the all-star teams consists of three ballots from each California League team. Voters can include team managers, broadcasters, front office members and media members.
