LANCASTER, Calif. - The 2017 Lancaster JetHawks coaching staff was announced by the Colorado Rockies, the new parent club of the JetHawks, last week. The staff includes Manager Fred Ocasio, who led the Modesto Nuts the last two seasons and is entering his 21st year in the Rockies organization.

After a slow start, Ocasio guided the Nuts to a 34-36 mark in the second half last year. Modesto went 67-73 in 2015 in his first year in the California League. Ocasio won a league championship in 2014 with the Asheville Tourists (Low-A) in the South Atlantic League. Prior to his coaching career, Ocasio spent two years in the Rockies minor league system as a player. He hails from Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Brandon Emanuel will serve as the JetHawks Pitching Coach in 2017. He also spent the past two seasons with Modesto. Last year, Emanuel led the Nuts pitching staff to a league-leading 3.89 ERA. In 2015, Modesto pitchers posted a 3.75 ERA, tied for third in the league. Two Nuts pitchers, Yency Almonte and Parker French, made up half of the Post-Season All-Star pitching staff. Prior to his time with the Rockies, Emanuel spent six years as a pitching coach in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization (2008-2013). He was selected in the second round by the Angels in 1998 out of Northwestern State University of Louisiana and went on to play eight seasons in the minors. He grew up in Lynn Haven, Fla.

Anthony Sanders will be the team's Developmental Supervisor, the same role he held with Modesto last season. Prior to that, he spent three seasons as manager of the Grand Junction Rockies, Colorado's Rookie affiliate. The former Major League outfielder played three seasons with Toronto and Seattle. He was a seventh round draft pick of the Blue Jays out of Santa Rita High School in Tucson, Ariz.

Trainer Josh Guterman joins the JetHawks after spending the past four seasons with Modesto.

The Rockies have yet to announce the JetHawks Hitting Coach for 2017.
