After coming back from down 5-0 last night and nearly coming all the way back from down 6-1 on the Sunday before, the Lake Elsinore Storm once again fell behind early. Jose Reyes was on the mound for the second time in the last two weeks and produced a quality outing despite a rocky start.

The first batter he faced would hit a single, he would induce a groundout to his second batter, commit a balk to bring that runner to third, and then the third batter of the game would hit a ball just over the fence in right field to score two in the first. These would not only be the only two runs that Reyes allowed in their appearance but it would also be the only two runs that were scored for either team.

Reyes, in the back-to-back appearances over the last two homestands, has allowed just three earned runs in 10.1 innings with 14 strikeouts. The Storm would combine for five hits, two walks, and 10 strikeouts. During their struggles at the plate, they only had a batter reach third twice tonight and didn't have a hit until the bottom of the 4th. However, it wasn't completely due to the misgivings of Storm hitters. 66ers starting pitcher, Davis Daniel, was on Major League rehab for his second appearance with Inland Empire. He now has a 1.00 ERA with just one earned run in 9 innings pitched.

With another weak offensive performance, The Storm now find themselves down six games to the Inland Empire 66ers with 10 games remaining against them. This is the best chance Lake Elsinore has at getting back into the playoffs, however, with two upcoming bullpen days, their opportunities are suddenly dwindling.

They will play once again tomorrow night for Thursday Bites at The Diamond.
