Tonight’s game at The Diamond can best be summarized by the four consecutive innings that the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes scored in to start the night.

The first run came on a passed ball, the next two on a no-doubter home run, and the next three on two doubles and a bases-loaded HBP. The Quakes would take a 7-0 lead before the bats even entered the building for the Lake Elsinore Storm. A Samuel Zavala single would score the first run of the game for the Storm.

They would recoup that run in the top of the sixth with a grounder of their own from shortstop Sean McLain.

As they haven't all season long, the Storm refused to go quietly into this Inland Empire night. Marcos Castañon would lead off the bottom of the 6th with a blast out of the building and nearly out of the property. Nerwilian Cedeño would follow him with a first pitch single, and Juan Zabala would reach on a fielding error. A Samuel Zavala double would score both of them and that would be enough for the Quakes to seek a pitching change.

Luckily, that wasn't enough. Ruben Salinas would score Zavala and two consecutive walks would load the bases. Justin Farmer would hit a sacrifice fly and Jackson Merrill would collect his first hit of the game to get them within 1.

Unfortunately, despite coming back from down 7 runs, they would allow a run in the 7th and then not another run would be scored in the entire game.

The Storm will look to bounce back tomorrow for the last Mega Thirsty Thursday of the season in their third game of the series against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
