Flying Tigers Outfielder Ben Verlander Named Florida State League Player of the Week

Lakeland, FL - Lakeland Flying Tigers outfielder Ben Verlander has been named Florida State League (FSL) Player of the Week. The FSL selection was for the period of August 15-21.

Verlander hit .538 (14-26) with five doubles, two triples and one home run in seven games. He walked four times, scored four runs and knocked in 13. This is Verlander's fourth professional season. He was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 14th round of the June 2013 draft while attending Old Dominion University where he earned Third Team All-America honors and First Team All-CAA accolades as a junior.
