Arkansas' Marlette plates five runs in sixth

This is Tyler Marlette's seventh season in pro ball, but he's never seen anything like the sixth inning he had Sunday.
"We scored 13 runs in the inning! All the guys in front of me were putting together good at-bats and getting on base, and I just wanted to stay with my approach and put a good swing on a good pitch," he said.
The 23rd-ranked Seattle prospect hit a grand slam and doubled in that frame, amassing five RBIs, to spark Double-A Arkansas to a 17-3 thrashing of visiting Frisco.

On Saturday, Marlette belted two home runs off No. 2 Rangers prospectYohander Méndez, and after going without a dinger for the first month-and-a-half of the season, he's tallied four since May 20. He's also put together a .271/.329/.444 line while catching in 29 games and serving as designated hitter in five, including Sunday's.
The 24-year-old native of Florida admitted he "kind of" feels like he's getting into a groove, but added, "I'm just sticking to my process and trying to get a good pitch to hit. You take it one at-bat at a time and try not to stress the things you can't control."

With two runs in and runners on the corners with one out in the sixth, Marlette stepped into the box against left-hander Shane McCain. He got ahead, 2-1, and pulled the fourth pitch into left field for an RBI double.
"They were coming at me with offspeed stuff every time I got in a 2-1 count, so I figured he'd be throwing something offspeed," he said. "He ended up hanging a breaking ball and I put a good swing on it."

One out, five hits and two walks later, the 2011 fifth-rounder welcomed Cody Palmquist to the game by socking an opposite-field grand slam on the righty's second offering.
"He threw a first-pitch breaking ball, and then I was sitting dead-red on the heater," Marlette said. "I got it middle away, and it worked out for me. I was kind of just running, and I saw it go over and that's when I pulled up a little bit.

"I was in shock. It was kind of just everybody putting together good at-bats. Once that happens, it trickles down, and it's good for everybody."
Four Travelers amassed three-hit games, including No. 27 Mariners prospect Kyle Waldrop (3-for-5), who had three RBIs, two runs scored and a walk.
Scott Heineman, Texas' No. 24 prospect, went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk for Frisco.
