Missions 2013 Internships Announced
Applicants: College seniors and recent graduates interested in a career in the sales & marketing of a professional sports team.
General Information: The Missions are the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres and 12-time Champions of the Texas League. We are a charter member of the Texas League and our franchise's first game was in 1888. The Missions play their home games at Nelson Wolff Stadium, located seven miles west of downtown San Antonio. The offices of the Missions are located at the stadium. The Missions have been a playoff team in ten of the last sixteen seasons and have captured five Texas League Championships in that time.
Internships: The Missions have four full-time internships available for the 2013 season. All will be eight months in length and begin on Monday, January 14, 2013 and conclude September 13, 2013. The internships will consist of the sale of season ticket packages, group ticket sales and corporate hospitality packages. Interns will be assigned a sales goal and be expected achieve that goal. Interns will also rotate work throughout the following in-season areas: Box office, Promotions, Public Relations/Social Media and Stadium Operations.
Compensation: All interns will be paid $1,000.00 per month plus commissions on sales and bonus for reaching sales goal.
Expectations: The Missions expect that interns consider themselves a part of our staff and will be treated as such. Within Minor League Baseball, the front office staff performs duties at all levels of management and maintenance. Everyone wears many different hats and a willingness to go above and beyond one's normal duties is expected. The Missions will offer the opportunity to learn the business of baseball from the ground up and earn a full-time position at the conclusion of the internship. Many of our current front office staff members began their careers as interns.
