Missions Move to CBS Sports Radio

Defending Texas League Champs to be heard on 860 AM
February 7, 2014

San Antonio - After over two decades on KKYX (680 AM), the San Antonio Missions will have a new radio home for the 2014 season.

Late last week, Cox Media Group (CMG) San Antonio, which also owns KKYX, became the latest affiliate to broadcast CBS Sports Radio, re-launching 860 AM as a stand-alone format. KONO-AM 860 had been a simulcast of CMG's top ranked greatest hits station KONO 101.1 FM for more than 20 years.

Missions baseball will join a CBS lineup that includes national sports radio personalities like Jim Rome and John Feinstein.

"The Missions have enjoyed a long, successful relationship with Cox Media Group and KKYX," said Missions GM Dave Gasaway. "We're looking forward to the next chapter in that relationship with CBS Sports Radio and thrilled to be part of the new look in San Antonio sports radio."

"We're excited to have the Missions as part of our Sports Radio 860 lineup, this is a perfect fit within the content the CBS Sports Network delivers," said CMG San Antonio VP and Market Manager Dan Lawrie.

Mike Saeger will be returning for his fifth season behind the mic for the Missions, who open their 2014 campaign in Springfield, MO against the Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals AA) on April 3, 2014.
