JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Despite a solid performance by Mike Soroka (10-7), Mississippi (13-32, 47-68) couldn't provide the needed run support to stop the Jumbo Shrimp in the second game of a five game series at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Jacksonville (23-23, 53-63) got on the board early with a one-out home run by Austin Dean in the bottom of the first to provide all the scoring the Shrimp would need.

They picked up one more run when KC Serna doubled to lead off the bottom of the third. Serna advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Braxton Lee's single, giving Jacksonville a 2-0 lead.
Soroka took the loss despite allowing only two runs on five hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out three. Corbin Clouse and Danny Reynolds each pitched one scoreless inning in relief in the loss.
Matt Tomshaw and Clayton Mortenson combined to shut out the Braves, giving up only five hits.
Mississippi sends LHP Tyler Pike (0-5, 3.71) to the hill for game three of the series. He'll counter Jacksonville RHP Trevor Richards (3-4, 2.98). Game time is slated for 6:05 PM (CT).
