Modesto, CA. - A nine-run sixth sent the Modesto Nuts to a 9-5 loss to the San Jose Giants on Wednesday evening at John Thurman Field.
Reggie McClain had a terrific beginning to his start for the Nuts (15-18). The righty struck out eight and allowed just two hits in his first five innings of work.
In the sixth, McClain allowed a one-out homer to Jalen Miller. After back-to-back hits, Sandro Fabian drove home two runs with a triple to knock McClain out of the game. Fabian represented the tying run at the time.
Jack Anderson (L, 1-2) followed and struck out the first man he faced before Frandy De La Rosa tied the game with a RBI single. Johnesway Fargas and Bryce Johnson followed with RBI singles. After the Giants loaded the bases, Wander Franco capped the nine-run inning with a three-run double off the center field wall.
Bryson Brigman had four hits in the game and drove in a run. Donnie Walton, Evan White and Logan Taylor each drove in runs. Gareth Morgan also homered in the game.
Sandro Cabrera (W, 5-0) earned the victory working three innings and allowing four runs on six hits with two strikeouts.
