Bullpen Surrenders Slim Lead in 6-3 Loss

Modesto, CA. - After building an early lead, the Modesto Nuts surrendered four runs in the seventh to fall 6-3 to the Visalia Rawhide on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field. Nick Zammarelli homered in the second inning for the Nuts (25-33). Donnie Walton doubled in the third before scoring

Modesto, CA. - After building an early lead, the Modesto Nuts surrendered four runs in the seventh to fall 6-3 to the Visalia Rawhide on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.
Nick Zammarelli homered in the second inning for the Nuts (25-33). Donnie Walton doubled in the third before scoring on a sac fly by Kyle Lewis.
Mark Karaviotis tied the game for the Rawhide (30-28) when he doubled home two runs in the fourth. Walton gave the Nuts the lead back in the fifth with a sac fly to score Luis Liberato.
Danny Garcia (L, 0-4) entered the game with a lead in the sixth. After working around a walk, Garcia surrendered four runs in the seventh inning. Dominic Mirolio reached on an infield single to start the inning. He moved to third on a throwing error by Garcia. Karaviotis tied the game with a RBI single. After another knock by Ryan Grotjohn, Marcus Wilson gave the Rawhide the lead for good with a two-run double.
Tommy Eveld (S, 4/5) shut the door in the ninth working around two baserunners with a pair of strikeouts.
Randell Delgado (W, 2-0) worked a scoreless sixth inning out of the Rawhide bullpen.
Liberato finished the day 3-for-5 with two doubles and a triple. Reggie McClain started the game for the Nuts and did not allow a hit until the fourth. Overall he allowed just two runs in five innings while walking four.
