Visalia, CA. - Despite five scoreless innings from the Modesto Nuts' bullpen, the Nuts fell 6-4 against the Visalia Rawhide on Tuesday night at Recreation Park.

An error opened the door in the first for the Rawhide (47-43; 10-10). Drew Ellis drove in the first run with a RBI groundout. With two outs, Dominic Miroglio plated two runs with a single. Ramon Hernandez capped the four-run first-inning flurry with a RBI single. All four of the runs against Darren McCaughan (L, 4-7) were unearned.

Adam Walton added a two-run single with two outs in the third inning against McCaughan who lasted just three innings in his start for the Nuts (36-54; 6-14). McCaughan allowed seven hits, six runs, two earned, with three strikeouts and two walks.

Emilio Vargas (W, 7-4) surrendered a first-inning RBI double to Kyle Lewis. Luis Liberato added a solo home run in the third. That was all the Nuts would get against Vargas who worked five innings allowing two runs on three hits with 13 strikeouts. In all, Rawhide pitching recorded 21 total strikeouts, one off the league record.

Manny Pazos drew the Nuts to within two when he ripped his first pro home run in the seventh. The Nuts would load the bases after that but Junior Garcia got out of the jam. Tommy Eveld (S, 10/12) worked a perfect ninth inning.

Jeffeson Median and AJ Franks kept the Nuts in the game. The two combined for five scoreless innings out of the Nuts' bullpen.
