Modesto, CA. - Three Stockton Ports pitchers shut down the Modesto Nuts offense in a 4-0 loss on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.
Jesus Luzardo (W, 2-1) dominated in his start for the Ports (9-4). The southpaw stuck out nine and did not allow a hit. He walked just one and was able to work around a fourth-inning error.
Logan Taylor broke up the no-hit bid in the seventh against Angel Duno. Taylor smoked a laser over the second baseman's head with one out in the inning to break up the no-no.
Miguel Romero (S, 4/4) worked the final two innings for the Ports allowing three hits but no runs to complete the shutout.
John Richy (L, 0-2) worked six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, all in the third inning in his start for the Nuts (4-9). Edwin Diaz drove in the first run of the game with a solo home run to lead off the inning. Nate Mondu and Jonah Heim each delivered RBI singles to finish off the scoring in the inning. After Richy walked two to start the fourth, the righty retired nine straight to finish off his quality start.
