Paddack Stifles Nuts in 4-1 Loss

Modesto, CA. - A quality pitching performance shutdown the Modesto Nuts' offense in a 4-1 loss to the Lake Elsinore Storm on Saturday night at John Thurman Field.
Chris Paddack (W, 2-0) worked six scoreless innings in his start for the Storm (14-22). The righty struck out ten and retired the first nine he faced before Bryson Brigman recorded an infield single. Paddack retired the next eight in a row before Brigman recorded the second hit against him. Overall, Paddack did not walk a batter and allowed just the two hits with no walks.
Randy Bell (L, 1-2) retired the first six he faced in his start for the Nuts (16-20) before allowing two straight singles to start the third. Marcus Greene drove them both in with a two-run double. Greene later scored on Edward Olivares' two-out triple. Bell tossed six innings with four strikeouts and no walks while allowing eight hits.
John Richy was terrific out of the bullpen for the Nuts. He did not allow a hit in three scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
The lone run for the Nuts scored in the seventh. Kyle Lewis whacked a double with one out in the seventh. Logan Taylor drove him in with a two-out double.
Dauris Valdez (S, 1/2) worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth with a couple of strikeouts to close the game for the Storm.
