MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Biscuits (55-49/27-15) blanked the Biloxi Shuckers (55-54/21-21), 4-0 for their fifth shutout of the season Thursday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The Biloxi bullpen proved to be annoying for the Biscuits as Montgomery struck out 15 times, but prevailed to take control of the series 2-1.

In the first inning, Montgomery wasted no time treating the home crowd to action. Infielder Osleivis Basabe recorded his second-consecutive game with a triple, and brought Kameron Misner home to make it 1-0. The Biscuits secured their second run of the inning as first baseman Kyle Manzardo connected on an RBI-single that grew the lead to 2-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, and the Biscuits with two outs Misner smacked a deep RBI-double to the right corner to go up 3-0. In the next at-bat, Shuckers starter Victor Castaneda (3-6) threw a wild pitch that brought catcher Roberto Alvarez home and extended it to 4-0.

Montgomery starter Sean Hunley (4-1) kept the Shuckers at bay as he only allowed two hits through the first five innings. He finished his start recording just two hits, two walks, and four strikeouts as Josh Roberson (2-4) entered the game to relieve Hunley.

On the other end of the plate, Misner was the man with a plan as he was the lone Biscuit to record multi-hits, going 3-4 with a run, RBI and some impressive outfield catches. Biscuits reliever, Chris Gau entered in the ninth and locked in the win as he went one-two-three to retire the side and seal the game.

The Biscuits return to action when LHP Mason Montgomery (0-0) faces LHP Robert Gasser (1-0) in a southpaw shootout Friday for teacher Appreciation Night presented by Whataburger at 6:35 PM CT.

The rest of the series includes Family Faith Night & MAX Fireworks Saturday, August 20th at 6:05 PM CT, and Kids Backpack Giveaway presented By Whataburger & Bark in the Park Sunday, August 21st at 3:33 PM CT.
