BILOXI, Miss. - The Biscuits (78-58) had an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth for the eighth consecutive season on Friday night at MGM Park, but the Biloxi Shuckers (74-61) proved to be too much as they rolled over the Butter and Blue by a score of 9-2.

Sean Hunley (5-5) struggled throughout his 22nd start of the season, allowing eight earned runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings pitched. The first trio of runs came in the first inning when an RBI-double from Wes Clarke was followed by a two-run home run by Ernesto Martinez that made the score 3-0.

Biloxi picked up where they left off in the second inning with a solo-shot from Zavier Warren and an RBI-single for Jackson Chourio. The latter would be caught stealing not long after, but it allowed Isaac Collins to cross the plate and give the Shuckers a 6-0 lead.

Montgomery chipped into the deficit during the fourth inning when Bob Seymour recorded his fourth home run of the season to make the score 6-1. The first baseman now possesses a 10-game hitting streak and 16-game on-base streak, with the former standing as the longest active streak in the Southern League.

The momentum quickly shifted back to the Shuckers in the bottom of the fifth when Wes Clarke delivered a devastating blow in the form of another two-run home run. The Biscuits scored again in the next frame on a wild pitch from Tobias Myers (10-5), but a fielding error by Tanner Murray in the next frame allowed Warren to score and put Biloxi ahead 9-2.

Only one hit was allowed by either team over the final three innings of play, allowing the Shuckers to stay in the playoff hunt with a 9-2 victory. Myers earned his 10th win of the season while Hunley took his fifth defeat.

The bats were mostly cold for the Butter and Blue, with only five hits and 13 strikeouts recorded during the contest. Despite the loss, Montgomery has won 25 of its last 31 games and 11 of the last 13 but will need to split the final two to clinch a playoff berth.

The Biscuits and Shuckers will run it back at MGM Park on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 6:05 p.m. CST. The featured pitching matchup pits Cole Wilcox (5-8) against TJ Shook (7-4) for Biloxi.
