Biscuits Walked Off in 11th Inning of Series Opener at Tennessee

KODAK, TN - In a hard fought 11-inning battle, the Montgomery Biscuits (6-4) were walked off on a homer by the Tennessee Smokies (5-4) in a 6-5 loss on Tuesday night at Smokies Stadium.

The two clubs totaled 18 hits with several runners on throughout the game. The Smokies hit four solo homers to carry them to a win.

Nick Schnell gave the Biscuits their first lead of the game with a two-run homer to right field in the fifth inning to make it 3-2.

The Biscuits took the lead for a second time in the eighth after Carson Williams led off with a double and scored on Bob Seymour’s base hit to right center to make it 4-3.

With the game tied in the ninth and the 10th, Antonio Menendez retired six straight hitters to keep Montgomery in the game.

In the 11th, Kenny Piper lifted a sacrifice fly to give the Biscuits a 5-4 lead, their third lead of the game. The Smokies responded again. Hayden Cantrelle homered to right field in the 11th to win it for Tennessee, 6-5.

The game marked the first extra-inning loss of the season for the Biscuits and the second time the club has been walked off.

The second game of the series is Wednesday night at Smokies Stadium. Logan Workman will make the start for Montgomery while Connor Noland will start for Tennessee. The first pitch is at 6:00 pm CT. Fans can listen on Sports Radio 740, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
