The Montgomery Biscuits (68-59/40-25) fell to the Mississippi Braves (60-72/31-32), 4-2, Wednesday night at Trustmark Stadium. The Biscuits slipped behind and never bounced back as the M-Braves evened the series at one.

In the top of the first, M-Braves starter Dylan Dodd (2-4) got the first two of his seven strikeouts in his start as retired the Biscuits with ease one-two-three. Biscuits starter Michael Mercado (4-8) also went three-up, three-down to retire the M-Braves.

After a scoreless first three innings the M-Braves struck first with a two-run home run to left center from designated hitter Adam Pabst to make it 2–0 in the bottom of the fourth. The Biscuits responded quickly in the top of the fifth with an RBI-single from Biscuits shortstop Alika Williams to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the top of the sixth Mercado quickly got a pair of outs. However, he surrendered a double to M-Braves shortstop Cade Bunnell and then an immediate RBI-double to Pabst that extended the lead to 3-1. Biscuits reliever Carlos Garcia entered for Mercado to record the last out of the sixth inning.

In the top of the seventh catcher Roberto Alvarez put the Biscuits within one, 3-2, as he hit an RBI-single. In the bottom of the seventh, the Biscuits were one out away from escaping the inning but Garcia threw a wild pitch to put the lead back to two, 4-2.

The lead would stay that way in the eighth and in the ninth Justin Yeager would take the mound for the M-Braves to record his sixth save of the season. Following the loss, the Biscuits will look to get back in control of the series Thursday when Sean Hunley (7-1) faces Tanner Gordon (8-6) at 6:35 PM CT.

The Biscuits return to Riverwalk Stadium for Game 1 of the 2022 South Division Championship Series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:35 PM.
