Thursday, May 20, 2021 – Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park – Albuquerque, N.M.

Game Summary: Rehabbing Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland allowed one run and two hits over six innings, and the Albuquerque offense scored seven runs between the fifth and seventh innings to take an 8-1 lead before winning, 8-4, Thursday night at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. After being held to one run through seven innings, the Dodgers scored three times in the eighth inning, but could get no closer.

Of Note:

-Both teams are now 3-10 after Thursday’s game. The Isotopes have won back-to-back games after dropping 10 of their first 11 games in 2021. The Dodgers have lost each of their last two games right after winning their first consecutive games of the season on Sunday and Monday. OKC had won six straight games against Albuquerque going back to 2018, and Thursday marked the team’s first loss against the Isotopes since May 26, 2017.

-Colorado Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland made his second rehab start for Albuquerque and earned the win. He retired the first 10 batters he faced, as well as 13 of the first 14. Freeland tossed 6.0 innings and allowed one run and two hits, with one walk and four strikeouts. The lefty induced 13 groundouts and threw 79 pitches (49 strikes).

-The Dodgers were held without a hit until there were two outs in the fifth inning, when Clayton Daniel lined a RBI single to right field to tie the game at 1-1.

-Andy Burns played in his 1,000th career regular season game between his time in the Majors, Minors and KBO (S. Korea). He finished 1-for-4 and connected on a two-run homer in the seventh inning for his second homer of the season.

-Rangel Ravelo finished 0-for-4 with a RBI, but failed to reach base via hit or walk, ending his season-opening 12-game on-base streak.

-The Dodgers allowed eight runs Thursday and have now allowed at least five runs in each of their first 13 games of the season. Albuquerque also hit three homers, bringing OKC’s total up to 23 allowed through 14 games.
