Game Summary: The Round Rock Express jumped out to an 11-run lead in the fourth inning as they went on to snap the Oklahoma City Comets’ six-game winning streak and send the Comets to a 13-4 loss Friday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Express (34-39) scored three runs in the first inning and five runs in the second inning, including a three-run home run by Billy McKinney to take a quick 8-0 lead. In the fourth inning, McKinney hit his second three-run homer of the game to give the Express an 11-0 advantage as he racked up six RBI in the game. The Comets (44-29) got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning on a RBI single by Hunter Feduccia and sacrifice fly by Nick Senzel. The Express added two more runs in the sixth inning on a two-run single by Alan Trejo before the Comets answered with back-to-back RBI singles by Senzel and Chuckie Robinson in the sixth inning.
Of Note:
-The Comets’ six-game winning streak — tied for the longest of the season — came to an end as Oklahoma City lost its first game of the current series and also snapped a season-best stretch of five consecutive home wins…The Comets now lead the series, 3-1.
-Round Rock’s 13 runs marked the highest run total by an Oklahoma City opponent since June 10 in Albuquerque when the Comets allowed a season-high 15 runs in a 15-2 loss. Friday was also the third time this season Oklahoma City allowed at least 13 runs in a game this season as they also allowed 13 runs in a 13-4 loss against El Paso April 30.
-The Comets outhit the Express, 12-11, with four Oklahoma City players finishing with multi-hit games as Hunter Feduccia, Alex Freeland, Kody Hoese and James Outman each tallied two hits…Friday was the seventh time this season the Comets lost a game when outhitting their opponent.
-The Comets did not record an extra-base hit Friday, snapping a streak of 86 consecutive games with at least one extra-base hit. Friday was the first time since Sept. 6, 2024 against Sugar Land that OKC did not have an extra-base hit…OKC’s 12 hits Friday were the most by the team without recording an extra-base hit since Aug. 1, 2015 against New Orleans (12 H).
-Hunter Feduccia went 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored and has now hit safely in 12 of his last 14 games with an at-bat, batting .444 (24-for-54) with eight multi-hit games…Kody Hoese went 2-for-4 with a run scored and is 16-for-35 (.457) over his last nine games…Nick Senzel recorded his sixth multi-RBI game in his last 11 games.
-Esteury Ruiz was held 0-for-5 to snap his 24-game on-base streak, which was the longest on-base streak of the season by a Comets player and tied for the second-longest on-base streak in the PCL this season.
-Friday was Oklahoma City’s first 89ers Night of the season and OKC players took the field in 89ers jerseys and Abner 89er hats in recognition of the franchise’s pre-Bricktown history.
