Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Dodgers scored four unanswered runs, including home runs in back-to-back innings to take the lead, in a 6-3 win against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Trailing, 3-2, in the sixth inning, James Outman hit a solo home run out to right field to tie the score, 3-3. The Dodgers (57-38) took the lead for good in the seventh inning via a solo home run by Miguel Vargas out to the Budweiser Deck in left field with two outs. Ryan Noda added a RBI double later in the inning as the Dodgers connected on four straight hits for a 5-3 lead. Drew Avans’ RBI single in the eighth inning gave OKC a three-run lead on the way to a fifth straight victory. Sugar Land (40-55) led twice in the game, taking a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Yainer Diaz in the second inning. The Dodgers responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning with a RBI double by Outman and RBI single by Hunter Feduccia. The Space Cowboys scored two runs in the sixth inning, including a RBI double by Lewis Brinson and RBI single by Alex De Goti for a 3-2 advantage before OKC came back to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Of Note:

-With Wednesday’s win, the Dodgers matched their longest winning streak of the season at five games, reaching the mark for the first time since April 15-20. OKC has opened their current homestand with five consecutive wins, marking the first time the Dodgers have won five home games in a row since opening the 2018 season with a 15-0 record in Bricktown…OKC has now won 10 of the last 11 games against Sugar Land…The Dodgers are now 2-0 in the current series as they opened a third straight series with back-to-back wins.

-In his fifth at-bat of the night, Drew Avans connected on a RBI single in the eighth inning to extend his on-base streak to 34 games. It is the longest on-base streak by an OKC player this season and the longest active streak in the PCL. He is one game shy of the longest on-base streak in the PCL this season set by El Paso’s Nomar Mazara who reached base in 35 consecutive games April 12-May 29…Avans also hit safely for the 19th time in the last 21 games. He is on a four-game hitting streak and has also hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games.

-James Outman went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Over the last four games, Outman has six hits, including two doubles, a triple and two home runs. He also has eight RBI and has scored five runs during the stretch.

-Jason Martin and Michael Busch both went 2-for-4. Martin has now hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 14-for-42 (.333) with four homers and 16 RBI. Busch has hit safely in 11 of his last 15 games, going 20-for-60 (.333).

-Miguel Vargas hit his 14th home run of the season as he boosted his PCL-leading hit total to 105 hits and his league-leading run total to 78 runs.

-Three Dodgers pitchers combined to allow three runs, tied for the fewest runs allowed by OKC in the last nine games. Dodgers starting pitcher Andre Jackson allowed one run and one hit on a home run over 5.0 innings. He issued three walks and had six strikeouts. Pedro Báez made his first appearance of the season with OKC, allowing two runs over two-thirds of an inning. Robbie Erlin (5-2) was credited with the win, pitching the final 3.1 innings of the game and allowing one hit and no runs, one walk and five strikeouts.
