Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Comets blanked the Las Vegas Aviators, 3-0, to secure a fifth straight victory Sunday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Oklahoma City (17-15/58-48) tallied all three runs of the game in the second inning. The Comets scored a pair of runs on a single by Noah Miller coupled with a Las Vegas fielding error. Hyeseong Kim helped add another run when he hit into a fielder’s choice later in the inning for a three-run OKC lead. Both sides were held scoreless the rest of the way as Las Vegas (18-15/62-44) finished with six hits. The Comets had just one hit after the second inning, but held on for a victory in the series finale.

Of Note:

-The Comets picked up a fifth consecutive win and are now riding their second-longest winning streak of the season after they won seven games in a row May 14-21…OKC has now won nine of the last 10 home games and is 10-2 in its last 12 games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

-Oklahoma City won the final five games against Las Vegas to take the series, 5-1, as the Comets won a series for the second time since the beginning of June (2-3-4)…The Comets won five straight games within the same series for the first time since June 29-July 3, 2023 at Sugar Land. They also won five games within a series for the third time this year and first time since May 26-31 at Sugar Land.

-Oklahoma City secured its sixth shutout win of the year and first since a 10-0 win July 19 at Tacoma. Three of the Comets’ six shutout wins have come in July and five have occurred at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

-Christian Romero (9-3) earned his ninth win of the year and first since July 10 vs. El Paso. The right-hander tossed 5.0-plus scoreless innings with four hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

-Ronan Kopp put together a four-out save for his first save of the season as he allowed one walk and struck out a pair of batters. The save was Kopp’s first since July 9 with Oklahoma City vs. Sugar Land…Jerming Rosario, Charlie Barnes and Nick Robertson all recorded holds for OKC in the shutout.

-Zach Ehrhard drew a pair of walks to extend his on-base streak to 12 games. It’s the longest active on-base streak on the team and his fourth of 10-plus games this season.

-The Comets drew nine walks as a team, giving them 36 during the six-game series. Ryan Ward led the Comets offense with three free passes Sunday.

-The Comets clinched a season series victory against PCL first-half champion Las Vegas, taking seven of 12 games. OKC captured a season-series win against Las Vegas for the fourth straight season.
