Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022 – Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark – Oklahoma City, Okla.
Game Summary: The Oklahoma City Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning, but were unable to bring in another run in a 5-3 loss to the Round Rock Express Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The teams entered the ninth inning in a 3-3 tie before the Express scored two runs. The Express (57-50) loaded the bases before an out was made in the top of the ninth inning and J.P. Martinez connected on a two-run single. In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Dodgers (62-45) loaded the bases with one out on two walks and a single, but Round Rock pitcher Demarcus Evans then got Miguel Vargas to strike out and Michael Busch to ground out to end the game. The Express took the first lead of the night on a two-run home run by Sam Huff in the first inning and Busch hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning. In the sixth inning, OKC scored a run on a double play before Ryan Noda belted a solo homer into the right field upper deck to put the Dodgers in front, 3-2. A RBI single by Round Rock’s Nick Solak knotted the score at 3-3 as the Express closed out the game with three unanswered runs and sent the Dodgers to a fourth straight loss.
Of Note:
-The Dodgers fell to 0-2 in their series with the Express, losing the first two games of a series for the first time since July 4-5 against Las Vegas in OKC…The Dodgers have now lost four consecutive games overall for the first time since a season-high five-game losing skid July 1-5 and have now lost five of their last six games overall…With wins both Tuesday and Wednesday, the Express have won consecutive games against OKC for the first time this season.
-Ryan Noda went 2-for-4 with a home run, hitting his 19th homer of the season — second-most among OKC players this season. Over his last six games, Noda is 11-for-22 with two doubles, three homers, nine RBI, four walks and five runs scored...Tony Wolters also finished with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.
-Edwin Ríos extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 1-for-4 with a walk, as he continued his Major League Rehab Assignment. During the eight-game streak, Ríos is 11-for-33 with four doubles and owns the longest active hitting streak by an OKC player. He was initially placed on the Los Angeles Dodgers Injured List June 3 with a right hamstring injury and was transferred to the 60-day IL June 22.
-Drew Avans extended his on-base streak to 46 games with a single, walk and run scored. Avans owns the longest active on-base streak in the Minors and the longest on-base streak by an OKC player during the MLBAM era (since 2005). He has reached base in 60 of his last 61 games and his 46-game on-base streak is the longest in the PCL since 2018.
-Dodgers pitchers recorded 12 strikeouts for their seventh double-digit strikeout outing in the last eight games. However, they also issued seven walks and have allowed 15 walks over the first two games of the series.
-OKC was held 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base. The Dodgers are 14-for-the-last-87 (.161) with RISP and have left 48 runners on base over the last five games.
