Game Summary: Starting pitcher Mike Montgomery tossed a season-high six scoreless innings as the Oklahoma City Dodgers held the Sugar Land Space Cowboys to one run for a second straight game in a 4-1 Dodgers win Sunday afternoon at Constellation Field. While the Space Cowboys (21-42/54-84) were shut out through seven innings, the Dodgers built a 4-0 lead. Oklahoma City (34-29/84-52) linked together three straight singles to open the third inning and load the bases before bringing in the first run of the day when Miguel Vargas grounded into a double play. Another run scored when Jonny DeLuca hit into a fielder’s choice before Óscar Mercado connected on an infield RBI single with the bases loaded for a 3-0 OKC advantage. The Dodgers added another run in the sixth inning on an infield RBI single by Hunter Feduccia. Sugar Land ended the shutout in the eighth inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch to cut OKC’s lead to 4-1. Alec Gamboa recorded his first save of the season for the Dodgers, closing out the game with 1.1 scoreless innings.

Of Note:

-The Dodgers recorded their 84th win of the season as they improved to 84-52 overall and became the third OKC team during the Bricktown era (since 1998) to reach the 84-win mark, joining the 2015 and 2022 OKC teams…The Dodgers have won back-to-back games, as well as four of their last five games, six of their last eight games and eight of their last 11 games.

-The Dodgers set a new Bricktown-era single-season team record for road wins as they picked up their 45th road victory of 2023, improving to 45-24 in away games as they also own the most road wins in the Minors this season. They are just the fourth OKC team to reach at least 40 road wins in a season since 1998 and surpassed the 2015 Dodgers’ 44 road wins with Sunday’s victory as the 2015 team when 44-28 on the road…The current Dodgers still have six road games remaining in the regular season.

-Oklahoma City won their fourth and final series of the season against the Space Cowboys, 4-2, claiming back-to-back series wins overall for the first time since July 25-30 in Reno and Aug. 1-6 against Round Rock…The Dodgers won the season series against the Space Cowboys, 18-6, as they won all four series between the teams in 2023 and won nine of their last 11 games at Constellation Field.

-The Dodgers held the Space Cowboys to one run for a second consecutive game and it was the fifth time in the last eight games the Dodgers held an opponent to two runs or less…OKC has allowed one extra-base hit over the last two games and has not allowed a home run in four straight games nor in 10 of the last 11 games…Starting pitcher Mike Montgomery (4-4) was credited with the win for OKC, tossing a season-high six scoreless innings and allowing two hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Trevor Bettencourt followed and allowed one run and two hits before Alec Gamboa closed out the game with 1.1 scoreless innings for his first save with OKC. The three pitchers combined for four hits, four walks and eight strikeouts.

-The Dodgers offense was held to seven singles as the team was held without an extra-base hit for the fifth time this season.

-Hunter Feduccia finished with the game’s lone multi-hit outing, going 2-for-4 with a RBI and run scored.
