Tacoma, WA. - The Reno Aces defeated the Tacoma Rainiers Monday night by a score of 8-4 in the series finale at Cheney Stadium. Christian Walker continued his MVP-caliber season going 4-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI. The University of South Carolina alum now has 107 RBI this season, most amongst professional baseball. On the mound, the combination of Taylor Clarke, Jared Miller, David Carpenter and Louis Coleman allowed just six hits against the high-powered Tacoma offense.
Tacoma wasted little time getting into the scoring column, plating two in the home half of the first inning. Shawn O'Malley singled to center field to start the game. Taylor Motter followed with a single of his own to move O'Malley to third base, and then Daniel Vogelbach hit a sacrifice fly to score O'Malley. Tacoma then loaded the bases for Kyle Waldrop who drew a bases-loaded walk, increasing the Tacoma lead to 2-0.

Led by Walker, the Aces came roaring back in the top half of the second inning. Walker got the inning started with his 31st double of the 2017 campaign. Newcomer Angel Franco introduced himself to the Pacific Coast League with a RBI single to center field to narrow the gap. John Ryan Murphy and Sócrates Brito each recorded RBI singles to give Reno a 3-2 advantage after one and a half.
Each team would tack on a single run in the third inning moving the score to 4-3 in favor of the visiting Aces. In the top of the fourth inning, Brito and Jack Reinheimer strung together a pair of singles to extend the Reno lead to two runs. Tacoma answered with a home run by shortstop Taylor Motter cutting the Reno lead to just one run through five innings of play.
The Aces offense came alive in the visiting half of the sixth, sending all nine batters to the plate while scoring three runs. Evan Marzilli started the rally with a single to right field. Franco followed with a single of his own to advance Marzilli into scoring position. After a sacrifice bunt from Murphy, four consecutive singles by Brito, Reinheimer, Oswaldo Arcia and Walker gave Reno a four-run cushion.
The win moves Reno to a record to 69-53 on the season with 21 games left to play. The Aces head back to Greater Nevada Field tomorrow night to take on the San Francisco Giants top affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats.
