6 Bulls Earn MiLB Org. All-Star Nods

2019 Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star Nate Lowe was one of six Bulls players honored as MiLB.com Organization All-Stars on Friday.

Six members of the Durham Bulls' 2019 squad earned MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors, as revealed by MiLB.com on Friday. Included in that group were infielders Nate Lowe , Kean Wong , Michael Brosseau , and Miles Mastrobuoni , along with reliever Andrew Kittredge and left-handed starter Michael Plassmeyer .

Six members of the Durham Bulls' 2019 squad earned MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors, as revealed by MiLB.com on Friday. Included in that group were infielders Nate Lowe , Kean Wong Michael Brosseau , and Miles Mastrobuoni , along with reliever Andrew Kittredge and left-handed starter Michael Plassmeyer .

In 93 games with the Bulls, Lowe compiled a .289 average (95-329), adding 63 runs, 24 doubles, 16 homers and 63 RBI, along with 72 walks and a .421 on-base percentage. The 24-year-old finished the 2019 campaign ranked second in the International League in OBP, in addition to tied for second in walks and fifth in on-base plus slugging percentage (.929). In 121 total games with Durham between the 2018-19 campaigns he owns a .282 mark (121-429) with 81 runs, 30 doubles, one triple, 20 homers and 79 RBI, adding 80 walks and a .401 OBP.

Lowe also made his Major League debut with the Rays on April 29, 2019 at Kansas City, posting a .263 mark (40-152) with 24 runs, eight doubles, seven homers and 19 RBI over 50 contests with Tampa Bay. He was selected in the 13th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State University.
A familiar name to Bulls fans, Wong accumulated a .307 clip (139-453) in 113 games with Durham in 2019, along with 71 runs, 29 doubles, six triples, ten homers and 63 RBI. This past season marked the second straight season in which he has earned International Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star honors, ranking fourth in the circuit in hits in 2019, in addition to tied for fourth in triples, eighth in batting average and ninth in OBP (.375). In 334 career tilts with Durham, Wong has tallied a .286 average (366-1281), adding 180 runs, 73 doubles, nine triples, 24 homers and 157 RBI, earning Triple-A All-Star Game Top Star honors in 2018, in addition to being named the Bobby Murcer Triple-A Championship MVP in 2017.

Wong was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Angels on September 24 and appeared in one contest. Last month he was claimed off waivers by the San Francisco Giants on November 5. The 24-year-old was originally selected by the Rays in the fourth round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Waiakea High School in Hawaii.
Brosseau split the 2019 campaign between Durham and Tampa Bay, playing in 73 contests with the Bulls, accruing a .304 mark (82-270) with 53 runs, 21 doubles, one triple, 16 homers and 60 RBI. It is the second time he has earned MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors after receiving the same nod following the 2017 season.

The 25-year-old made his Major League debut with the Rays on June 23, 2019 at Oakland, recording his first Major League hit that day. In 50 games for Tampa Bay he hit .273 (36-132), adding 17 runs, seven doubles, six homers and 16 RBI. He was signed by the Rays as an undrafted free agent on June 23, 2016.
Kittredge appeared in 27 games of relief work with the Bulls, posting a 2-1 mark and 1.93 ERA (8 ER/37.1 IP), adding 55 strikeouts and a 0.80 WHIP while holding opponents to a .182 batting average against. Over the last three seasons with Durham, the right-hander has combined for a 14-2 record and 1.96 ERA (33 ER/151.2 IP), along with 191 punchouts. He also earned 2017 International League Mid-Season All-Star honors with the Bulls.
The 29-year-old was originally selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 4th round of the 2008 MLB Fraft out of Ferris High School in Spokane, Washington prior to being acquired by the Rays as part of a five-player November 18, 2016 trade that sent infielders Richie Shaffer and Taylor Motter to Seattle. He owns a 4-3 record and 5.14 ERA (59 ER/103.1 IP) with 102 strikeouts in 85 career Major League outings (ten starts) with the Rays.
Mastrobuoni spent a large majority of 2019 with Double-A Montgomery, though he appeared in four contests with the Bulls. With the Biscuits he accumulated a .299 average (114-381) with 57 runs, ten homers, six triples, four homers and 34 RBI en route to being named the Southern League's Best Utility Player, as well as a Mid-Season and Post-Season All-Star. He collected one hit in 11 at-bats in his four games with Durham, adding a base on balls.
The 24-year-old was selected by the Rays in the 14th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of the University of Nevada. He has also earned Mid-Season All-Star honors in the Florida State League (2018), Midwest League (2017) and New York-Penn League (2016).
In his first full season at the professional level, Plassmeyer appeared in three different levels of the Rays minor league system, including one game with the Bulls, which featured a perfect inning of relief with one strikeout. Between Durham, Low-A Bowling Green and High-A Charlotte, the southpaw combined for a 9-3 mark and 1.91 ERA (28 ER/132.0 IP) along with 109 strikeouts and a 1.01 WHIP.
The 23-year-old was originally selected by Seattle in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft out of the University of Missouri. Plassmeyer was acquired by the Rays as part of a five-player trade on November 8, 2018 along with catcher Mike Zunino and outfielder Guillermo Heredia in exchange for outfielder Mallex Smith and Jake Fraley .
In addition to those six names, right-hander Phoenix Sanders was also recognized as an Honorable Mention selection by MiLB.com. In 45 combined appearances between Durham and Double-A Montgomery he tallied a 4-3 record and 1.92 ERA (13 ER/61.0 IP) along with 68 strikeouts. In eight outings with the Bulls he compiled a 1-0 mark and 2.38 ERA (3 ER/11.1 IP) with 11 punchouts.
