Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Inland Empire 66ers took advantage of 14 walks and held the Rancho offense to just six hits, as they grabbed a 6-1 victory over the Quakes on Saturday night at LoanMart Field.

66ers’ starter Mason Albright (4-3) was sharp, as he allowed one run on four hits over six innings to gain the win.

A home run from Thayron Liranzo accounted for the only run of the night for Rancho, his 14th of the year to tie former teammate Chris Newell for the league lead.

The 66ers took the lead for good with a run in the third off Rancho starter Waylin Santana (0-1), who allowed just one run over three innings, but got saddled with the loss.

Inland tallied two in the seventh and two more in the eighth to break the game open, with Dylan Phillips snuffing out a Quakes’ would-be rally in the eighth, as he earned the final four outs to notch his third save.

The Quakes(35-18), whose lead in the South now sits at 4.5 games with 16 to play in the half, will need a win on Sunday to avoid losing their first series of 2023. Chris Campos (5-2) will take on Inland Empire’s Michael Darrell-Hicks at 2pm in the finale.

Sunday will be U.S. Bank Little League Fan Fest and Kids can “Run the Bases” after the game. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
