Wilson, NC - The Fredericksburg Nationals lead through the first six and a half innings of todays game, but gave up a three spot in the bottom of the 7th in a 3-1 loss to the Wilson Warbirds.
Starting pitcher Alexander Meckley was incredible today for the FredNats. The RHP was perfect through his first 3.1 innings. Through his first six innings, Meckley hadn’t allowed a run, gave up just two hits and struck out seven with no walks. Three runs crossed to his name in the 7th, but Meckley did get his career high 8th strikeout.
The FredNats scored the games first run in the top of the 4th. Juan Cruz hit a lead off single, got to second on his 7th steal of the season, then got to third base, and scored on pass balls. That ended up being Fredericksburgs only run, as they mustered just four hits and scored only one run for the fourth time in the last six games.
With the loss, the FredNats fall behind 3-2 in the series. They’ll need a win tomorrow to avoid dropping a series to a team not named Hill City for the first time all year. The FredNats have lost just one six game series all year, the first of the season at the beginning of April. RHP Luke Johnson will start against RHP Diustin Mayorquin. First pitch from Wilson Ballpark is set for 1:05 PM.
