Mets prevail in extra innings 6-3 over Blue Jays

DUNEDIN, Fla. (August 1, 2026) – The St. Lucie Mets scored three runs in the 10^th inning to beat the Dunedin Blue Jays 6-3 in extras on Saturday night at TD Ballpark. The Mets snapped their three-game losing streak and improved to 3-1 in extra innings games in 2026.

The Blue Jays rallied back twice in regulation to tie the game but never took the lead.

Ryan Tayman hit a two-run double for St. Lucie in the first inning. JoJo Parker hit a two-run homer in the sixth to tie the game 2-2.

Elian Peña scored on a two-out RBI infield hit by John Smith III in the seventh inning to put the Mets up 3-2. The Blue Jays loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth inning against Elwis Mijares but new reliever Zack Mack came in and allowed just a sac fly that tied the game 3-3.

In the top of the 10^th Peña advanced to third on a wild pitch by Noah Palmese. Wyatt Vincent then hit a sac fly to put the Mets up 4-3. Smith III reached on a hit-by-pitch and would later score on a wild pitch by Palmese to make it 5-3. Julio Zayas added a RBI single for the final run.

Mack finished off the Blue Jays in the bottom of the 10^th. He got Jake Cook to ground out as the tying run to end the game. Mack was credited with the win after throwing 2.0 scoreless innings.

Smith III went 2 for 3 with two singles, a walk and the hit-by-pitch. He had a RBI, scored twice and reached base four out of five trips to the plate.

Mets starter Nate Hall pitched 3.0 scoreless innings with one hit and one strikeout.

Jonathan Jimenez pitched 2.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

The Mets (13-21, 46-54) and Blue Jays (47-52, 17-17) conclude their six-game series at TD Ballpark on Sunday. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m. The Mets will be going for their second 3-3 series split this season.
