Fredericksburg, VA - The Fredericksburg Nationals hit four home runs tonight, powering their way to a 9-5 win over the Delmarva Shorebirds.
Major League rehabber DJ Herz got the start tonight for Fredericksburg. It was tough at the very beginning, as he gave up a lead off double, then walked a batter and allowed to load the bases to start the game. Hertz then proceeded to strikeout the next three batters to escape the inning without allowing a run.
The FredNats got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd. Hunter Hines and Cashel Dugger walked. Jordan Williams then came through with an RBI double to bring home Hines and put the FredNats on the board. The next batter, Manny Cabrera, hit an RBI single to plate Dugger and make it 2-0.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Cristhian Vaquero hit his second home run of the series to make it 3-0. In the 5th, Hunter Hines came to the plate with Coy James in scoring position and crushed a ball over the bullpen in right center field to make it 5-0. The next inning, Jordan Williams destroyed a ball onto the roof of thee picnic garden to make it 7-0. In the 7th, Rafael Ramirez hit a two run home run in his first game back to make it 9-2 and put the game away.
With the win, the FredNats take the series. They’ve won each of the first three series played against the Delmarva Shorebirds. The FredNats look to take 5 out of 6 for the 3rd time against the Shorebirds tomorrow. RHP RJ Sales is set to make is season debut against RHP Esteban Mejia. First pitch from Virginia Credit Union Stadium is set for 6:35 PM.
