Jamison Jones Walks It Off, FredNats Beat Shorebirds 9-8

Fredericksburg, VA - The Fredericksburg Nationals walked off the Delmarva Shorebirds to take five out of six games in the series. Sir Jamison Jones came through with the first walk off hit of his professional career to give the FredNats a series ending win.
After both teams got a base runner on in each of the first two innings but couldn’t open the scoring, the offenses came alive in the 3rd. In the top half of the inning, Joshua Liranzo hit a leadoff single, stole second, then scored the games opening run on a Juan Ortega RBI hit. Ortega then scored on a sac fly to make it 2-0 Shorebirds.
The FredNats responded right away, as in the bottom of the 3rd, Coy James came to the plate with one out and hit a home run, his 18th of the season, to break the FredNats single-season home run record, previously held by Sammy Infante.
In the 4th, the Shorebirds added on another run to go ahead 3-1, but then the FredNats had their biggest offensive inning of the game. Brayan Orrantia entered and immediately allowed a solo home run to Hunter Hines. The next three Nationals then reached base, and all scored with RBIs coming from Dashyll Tejeda, Jamison Jones, and Coy James. That put the FredNats up 5-3.
The Shorebirds wouldn’t go down easy though. In the top of the 6th, Delmarva’s bottom of the order produced. With the bases loaded, Miguel Rodriguez softly hit an RBI single to make it a one run game. Then, the nine hitter Juan Ortega hit a grand slam, the first in over a calendar year for the Shorebirds to put them up 8-5.
In the bottom of the 8th, after the first two were retired, Jamison Jones hit a solo home run to spark a rally. Coy James then tripled and scored on a Manny Cabrera RBI single. Cabrera then scored on a Gavin Fien double that tied the game, making it 8-8 entering the 9th.
In the bottom of the 9th, Ramirez walked, and Williams singled to move the winning run into scoring position. Jamison Jones came through with the walk off winner, a blooper into center that scored Ramirez and gave the FredNats the 9-8 win.
With the win, Fredericksburg takes 5 out of 6 against Delmarva and is now 15-3 against the Shorebirds this season. The FredNats will look to keep this hot streak going next week as they travel down to North Carolina to take on the Fayetteville Woodpeckers.
