Woodbridge, VA- The Potomac Nationals are throwing it back to the 1980s on another Flashback Friday at Pfitzner Stadium on July 7th.
On tap is a fun throwback night of 80s music, dancing, big hair, and more as The Pfitz will be transformed back to 1980 to begin the night before the P-Nats take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals) at 7:05 pm.
With gates set to open at 6:00pm, the first 250 fans into The Pfitz will receive a P-Nats branded fanny pack giveaway.
From there, each inning will progress fans through the 1980s decade as each of the nine frames will represent its corresponding year in the decade.
Any fan with crazy "80s hair" a la members of Guns N' Roses will receive a $5 grandstand ticket to the evening's game at the Extreme Custom Collision Ticket Office and a chance to rock out in an Air Guitar Jam Contest on the field during the game.
Any fan who attended high school or college in the 1980s and wears their letterman jacket to the stadium will receive a $5 grandstand ticket courtesy of Teen Wolf.
Fans who wear their own fanny packs, jean jackets, and/or leotards will also receive a $5 grandstand ticket.
The P-Nats' faithful will have the opportunity to swap VHS and cassette tapes at our Tape Swap Center located in the Extreme Custom Collision Cafe area.
There will be plenty of chances for fans to win to-be-announced prizes throughout 80s Night with the P-Nats, dudes and dudettes.
If fans can solve a Rubik's Cube in less than two minutes they will win a prize pack courtesy of the Potomac Nationals.
The P-Nats hope fans in modernity enjoy Runts as much as folks did in the 80s! Runts, fruit flavored hard candies that are sure to cause a craze even in 2017, will be placed in a jar which will be filled to the brim. If any fan guesses how many Runts are in the jar, they will win a 1980s prize pack that includes a replica 1982 Alexandria Dukes and a 1989 Prince William Cannons throwback jersey.
The P-Nats will also raffle off an authentic 1980s boombox so that fans can take all their favorite cassette tapes on the go.
80s trivia, Carolina League highlights, and product information from the decade will be featured on the outfield jumbo-tron video board during the game.
Meanwhile, PacMan will be on site to race…or perhaps chase Uncle Slam in a competition that will pit two legendary mascots against each other to settle the ultimate costumed score.
Also, Glamour Shots of both the P-Nats and Blue Rocks will be displayed on the jumbo-tron to draw some laughs which will be epic.
No Duh.
From the boom box to the PA system, the sounds of the stadium will take you back throughout the 1980s. Every Billboard Top #100 number one song from every year will be played. From Queen to Billy Joel and Michael Jackson to Hall & Oates, every notable name will be played over the Public Address system to kick off the biggest dance party of the year.
Don't forget your dancing shoes. The best dancers to represent the decade will compete in an in-game dance competition for all the marbles.
Though, no disco appreciation will be tolerated on 80s Night. Just to prove disco is officially dead in 2017, the P-Nats invite all fans to bring their disco balls, records, and other disco-related paraphernalia for a ceremonial disco demolition on the field post-game. This may be the last chance to officially purge the world of disco. Don't miss your chance to be a part of music history by witnessing disco go up in flames…literally.
Gnarly.
If any fan gets too loud during the game, that fan is bound to be told to take a chill pill…
The American Cancer Society will also be in attendance to protect fans against harmful UV rays which is a wonderful intiative for all decades. As part of their Sun Safety/Cover Your Bases initiative, the first 1,000 fans will receive a free sunscreen sample courtesy of the American Cancer Society. In addition to the free sunscreen samples, the P-Nats will provide fans information on skin cancer and measures they can take to proactively reduce the risk of cancerous developments due to overexposure to UV rays.
Since barbeque was enjoyed in the 80s just like it is today, 80s Night will be complete with a BBQ Cook-Out Picnic offered in the Picnic Area. The picnic is a $10 add onto the price of any ticket into The Pfitz for an all-you-can-eat barbecue pig out. Full and Half Season ticket holders can purchase the picnic for just $5.
So, like the P-Nats fans should like flock to The Pfitz for 80s Night with the P-Nats on Friday, July 7th because it's going to be a tubular time!
Like, totally.
