FredNats Hit Five Home Runs in 11-3 Win Over Wilson

Fredericksburg, V.A. - The Fredericksburg Nationals hit five home runs for the first time in almost five months in an 11-3 dominating series-opening win against the Wilson Warbirds.

The bats were lights out from the start of tonights game. In the bottom of the 1st, Hunter Hines got the FredNats on the board with an RBI single to bring home Jordan Williams. In the 2nd, the top of the order produced again. Williams hit an RBI single, bringing across Avery Ortiz. Juan Cruz then crushed a ball for his 12th homer of the year to make it 4-1.

The offense didn’t end there. In the 3rd, Elian Soto hit a two-run shot to make it 6-1. Oritz followed it up with a solo home run to make it 7-1 in the 3rd. In the 4th, the FredNats continued to rake, as Hines hit a two-run blast, the 4th homer in four innings for the Nationals. That made it 9-2. In the 7th, Ortiz hit his second homer of the game, his 4th hit of the night, both career-first’s to make it 11-2 Nationals.

The pitching staff was lights out all night, allowing just the two runs, both solo homers from Warbirds catcher Rylan Mills. Tony Neubeck and Zach Konstantinovsky, two of the newest members of the roster combined for four scoreless innings from the 5th to the 8th.

With the win, Fredericksburg ties its wins record since moving from Potomac. They’ll look to break the record tomorrow in the first home education day game since the first month of the season. RHP Noah Millikan is set to take the hill against RHP Ma’Kale Holden. First pitch from Virginia Credit Union Stadium is set for 11:05 AM.
