Seven Run 3rd Inning Propels FredNats to 8-3 Win Over Warbirds

Fredericksburg, V.A. - The Fredericksburg Nationals took advantage of a seven-spot in 3rd inning, taking down the Wilson Warbirds 8-3 to take game two of the series. The win is the 76th of the season, which surpasses the 2022 season for most wins ever by a Fredericksburg Nationals team.

Starting pitcher Noah Millikan looked very strong at the beginning of the game, putting the top of the Warbirds order down 1-2-3 with a pair of strikeouts to close out the inning. Wilson did score the games first run in the top of the 2nd on a wild pitch, then added on another run in the 3rd to go up 2-0.

The FredNats offense responded in the bottom of the 3rd, with the bottom of the order getting the party started. Dashyll Tejeda singled to lead off the inning. Manny Cabrera followed it up with a walk. That set the table for three straight RBI singles from Jordan Williams, Juan Cruz, and Hunter Hines. After a couple of walks, Jamison Jones came to the plate and slapped a two-RBI single to make it 6-0. Tejeda then hit into an RBI groundout to put a bow on the seven-spot that put the Nationals up 7-2.

Millikan then ended his day with a pair of minimum innings, ending with a final line of 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K. Trevor Moore, Cesar Rojas, Tyler Papenbrock, and Kaleb Kantola then threw the final four innings, allowing just one hit, a solo homerun by Frederi Montero to lead of the 8th.

In the bottom of the 7th, Cruz hit a triple off the right field wall to plate Williams. It was the third triple of the season for the Nationals 20th round pick last year, and got him up to 50 RBI on the season. Cruz is the 4th FredNats to eclipse the 50 RBI mark.

With the win, the Nationals move to just one game below .500 in the second half. They’ll look to get to 31-31 tomorrow, with just four games remaining in the regular season. RHP Landon Harmon is set to face off against RHP Luke Rouke. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM at Virginia Credit Union Stadium.
