Summary
Akron RubbberDucks right-hander Aaron Civale (4-0) held the Bowie Baysox without a hit for the first five innings to win his fourth straight start to begin the season, and first baseman Wilson Garcia hit a two-run home run to spark a three-run first inning in a 6-2, series-opening victory at Prince George's Stadium Tuesday night.

Turning Point
For the fourth straight Civale start, the RubberDucks had a multi-run first inning. Right fielder Connor Marabell hit a two-out double to left field against Baysox right-hander Dean Kremer, before Garcia homered to right field, giving Akron the lead with a go-ahead two-run home run for a second straight day. Kremer walked center fielder Ka'ai Tom , designated hitter Nellie Rodríguez singled, and third baseman Tyler Krieger hit an RBI single to left field for a 3-0 lead.
Mound Presence
Civale allowed a second-inning, two-out walk for the only Bowie baserunner in the first five innings. He allowed the first Baysox hit with a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning to second baseman Chris Clare. Two batters later, center fielder Ryan McKenna hit a two-run single to trim the Akron lead to 4-2. Civale got an inning-ending double play and departed with two outs in the seventh inning. Left-hander Rob Kaminsky got the final out of the inning and worked 1 1/3 scoreless innings, before right-hander Nick Sandlin struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning. For Bowie, Kremer lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowing four earned runs, and right-hander Francisco Jimenez yielded two unearned runs in 2 1/3.
Duck Tales
Marabell hit a one-out solo home run to right field in the fifth inning for a 4-0 lead. With the lead at 4-2 in the eighth inning, Tom hit a one-out single, and third baseman Rylan Bannon's throwing error put Rodriguez at second base and sent Tom to third. Krieger then hit a sacrifice fly, and second baseman Alexis Pantoja hit an RBI single off Jimenez for a 6-2 lead.
