Murphy was selected in the second round of the 2009 MLB draft out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The catcher brings veteran experience to the Aces with 344 at bats in the big leagues. In those at bats, he has a .238 average in 141 games played. Murphy has played with the New York Yankees (2013-2015) and Minnesota Twins (2016) during his big league stints.
The 26-year-old had been ranked in the Yankees Top 20 prospect list according to Baseball America for six consecutive seasons while being their fourth-best farmhand going into the 2014 season. Murphy looks to continue his minor league success, building upon his .256 MiLB career average and 49 home runs
Reno will face the Oklahoma City Dodgers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark with the first pitch slated for 5:05 p.m. Reno will return home on July 29 and take on the St. Louis Cardinals top affiliate, the Memphis Redbirds.
