Grand Chute, WI (June 30, 2018) - Johnny Adams homered for the fourth time in five games and the Clinton LumberKings coasted to an 8-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Saturday night at Neuroscience Group Field. Onil Pena and Eugene Helder each added home runs for the LumberKings (7-3, 46-34) in a three-homer night.
The power surge by Clinton hitters was more than enough run support for LumberKings starter Oliver Jaskie. The lefty worked five plus innings and allowed just one run. Jaskie (4-7) allowed a third inning solo home run to Zach Clark and no more. The win was Jaskie's second of the season against the Timber Rattlers (3-7, 34-45).
Clinton scored their runs in pairs, scoring two runs in the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings. The game's first runs were driven in by Keegan Mcovern, RBI single, and Zach Scott, RBI ground out, which put the LumberKings on top for good.
In the top of the fourth inning, Adams slugged his fourth home run over his last five games off Timber Rattlers starter Bowden Francis. The home run was Adams eighth of the season and was followed three batters later by an RBI double by Juan Camacho.
Francis (4-5) was given the loss for Wisconsin. He allowed four runs over his five innings of work on seven hits while walking none and striking out three.
The LumberKings added to their lead in the top of the sixth. Onil Pena drove a two-run home run to right center field for his first home run of the season and Clinton's second home run of the night.
Eugene Helder drove home the last two runs of the night on a two-run homer to left center field for his fifth big fly of the year.
Adonis De La Cruz and Kyle Wilcox each worked two innings of relief for Clinton allowing just one Timber Rattler to reach over the final four innings to preserve the Clinton win.
The LumberKings will meet the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers for the third game of their four-game series on Saturday night. Clinton will give the ball to right-handed pitcher Randy Bell (0-0, 2.25) while the Timber Rattlers will go with righty Christian Taugner (2-6, 3.82). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 PM. Fans looking to listen to the call can hear Erik Oas at 12:50 PM with the pregame show on 100.3 FM WCCI.
