Aguilar Named Carolina League Player of the Week

ZEBULON, N.C. - The Carolina Mudcats, the Class-A Advanced affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, are thrilled to announce today that outfielder Ryan Aguilar was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week ending on April 22. Aguilar led the Carolina League in average, on-base percentage and OPS over the last week of games running from April 16 through April 22.

In all, the 23-year-old went 8-for-15 with a double, a triple, four RBI and five walks while hitting .533/.667/.733 and totaling a stellar 1.400 OPS over five games during the last week of play. He also totaled two extra-base hits, 11 total bases, one run and struck out four times in 21 total plate appearances between April 16 and April 22.
Aguilar began his stellar week of play by going 3-for-3 with a run and a two-run triple on April 17 in Wilmington. He then went on to hit safely in each of his next four games while carrying a five game hit streak through April 22. He also went 2-for-2 with a walk on April 21 while playing at Five County Stadium against the Buies Creek Astros.

The Brewers selected Aguilar in the 31st round of the 2016 Draft out of the University of Arizona. He went on to hit a combined .252/.369/.362 with 34 runs, 41 hits and nine stolen bases over 45 games between rookie level Helena and the AZL Brewers in 2016. Aguilar then spent the entirety of the 2017 season with Low-A Wisconsin where he hit .206/.305/.269 with eight doubles, four triples, two home runs and 42 runs over 105 games in his first full season as a pro. Aguilar is currently batting .297/.449/.432 (11-for-37) with three doubles, one triple, eight RBI and a .881 OPS over 13 games with the Mudcats so far in 2018.
Aguilar and the Mudcats are off on Monday, April 23, but will continue their current home stand on Tuesday, April 24 versus the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Five County Stadium. Tuesday's game will begin at 7:00 p.m., and will feature $1.00 tacos available on the concourse for Taco Tuesday at Five County Stadium.
