PORTLAND, ME - The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the period of April 23rd through April 29th.

Binghamton Rumble Ponies first baseman Peter Alonso has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of April 23rd-April 29th. The 23-year old hit .545 (12-for-22) with one double, four home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs scored, eight walks, and an 1.136 slugging percentage in six games last week. Alonso, who is a native of Tampa, Florida, reached base multiple times in all six games he played in last week while finishing off the week by homering in four straight games from April 25th-April 29th. With his performance last week Alonso raised his batting average to .403 in 20 games this season, which currently leads the league. He is also tied for the league lead in home runs (7) and runs scored (18). The 6'3", 245 lb. slugger led all Eastern League hitters in hits (12), total bases (25), home runs (4), walks (8), slugging percentage (1.136), and OPS (1.803) last week and tied for the lead in extra-base hits (5). He also ranked among the weekly league leaders in batting average (.545-2nd), runs scored (8-2nd), on-base percentage (.667-2nd), and RBIs (8-tied 2nd). Peter, who is rated by MLB.com as the fourth best prospect in the Mets organization, was selected by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2016 draft out of the University of Florida.

Brady Dragmire, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Harrisburg Senators, has been selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of April 23rd-April 29th. The 6'1", 185 lb. hurler started one game for the Senators last week and had a record of 1-0 with three strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA. Dragmire, who is a native of Sacramento, California, made his lone start of the week on Saturday night against the visiting Altoona Curve and pitched eight strong innings in Harrisburg's 7-1 victory. Dragmire retired the first 15 batters he faced before allowing a leadoff single in the top of the sixth inning to Stephen Alemais, who later scored an unearned run. Dragmire responded with two more perfect innings and gave up just the one hit while striking out three over eight innings. The 25-year tied for the league lead in ERA (0.00) last week and also ranked among the weekly leaders in WHIP (0.13-2nd), batting average against (.040-2nd), wins (1-tied 3rd), and innings pitched (8.0-5th). Brady, who has a record of 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA in five starts for the Senators this season, was signed by the Washington Nationals as a free agent on June 20, 2017. He was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 17th round of the 2011 draft out of Bradshaw Christian High School in California.
