Another eighth-inning rally pilots Frisco to series win

FRISCO, Texas (August 16, 2026) - Behind another eighth-inning rally, the Frisco RoughRiders seized a series win over the San Antonio Missions with an 8-5 victory Sunday night at Riders Field.

San Antonio (20-25, 51-63) leapt to the scoreboard first with an Alex McCoy RBI single in the first inning against Blake Townsend. Frisco (24-21, 63-50) responded with a Marcus Lee Sang two-run home run into the Lazy River in the third to take a 2-1 lead.

Townsend pitched into the sixth inning, but surrendered two runs there and finished with three earned runs allowed in 5.2 innings with six strikeouts. The Riders had his back and turned a 3-2 deficit into a 5-3 lead with RBI doubles from Yeison Morrobel and Ian Moller.

Then, after San Antonio tied the game in the top of the eighth inning against Leandro Lopez (1-2), the RoughRiders launched back into the lead with a three-run bottom half off Igor Gil (0-1), highlighted by a two-RBI double from Corey Joyce.

Austin Roberts retired the side in order in the ninth to notch his second save of the year.

Notes to Know:

• Dylan Dreiling extended his hitting streak to 11 games with an early double and also drew a walk.

• Lee Sang had a three-hit night and had 10 total hits in the series, with two home runs. Morrobel had three hits as well, as Frisco had its ninth consecutive game with eight or more total hits.

Frisco carries its series win into an off day Monday and will welcome in the Wichita Wind Surge for its second-straight home series, starting Tuesday, August 18.
