On a warm, windy night in southern Wisconsin, the Snappers lost their third straight with a 13-5 defeat at the hands of the Quad Cities River Bandits. As they have done over the last three nights, the Snappers held a lead that got away. Beloit had not lost three games in a row since April 19-21 and are now below .500 for the first time since May 24 when they were 22-23. The River Bandits 13-run outburst is the fourth game of the year that Snappers pitchers have allowed double digits in the run column.
Leading 4-1 after two innings, Daz Cameron came up with a pair of RBI doubles to boost the River Bandits mid-game surge. His first two-bagger put Quad Cities ahead of the Snappers 5-4 in the third and he extended the lead to 6-4 with a second RBI-double in the fifth. Carmen Benedetti hit his second homer of the year against the Snappers in the eighth inning, a three-run shot to give the visitors a five-run cushion.
Edwin Diaz hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first, his seventh of the year, and was one of four Snappers with a pair of hits on Saturday. Jason Goldstein was one of those with a two-hit game and drove in a run on a double. Infielder Kyle Nowlin got the last two outs on the mound in the ninth in his third mound appearance of the year without allowing a run.
