The Sacramento River Cats (23-33) won their fourth straight game Monday night 7-3 over the Fresno Grizzlies (26-32) thanks to timely hitting and a team effort by the pitching staff.

The Grizzlies struck first against spot-starter Roberto Gomez, tagging the right-hander for two runs in his first start since May 2. Third baseman Christian Arroyo evened things up in the River Cats half of the first, smacking a two-run shot over the right field fence. Sacramento held a slim 5-3 lead in the eighth, but Jae-Gyun Hwang put the game away with a two-run blast to left-center, his sixth home run of the year.
Gomez settled in after a rocky first inning, allowing just three more hits over his next 2.2 innings. Left-handed relievers Kraig Sitton and D.J. Snelten each pitched two innings and right-hander Kyle Crick closed the game out in the ninth.
Game two will feature Sacramento right-hander Dan Slania (0-6, 8.05) up against Fresno right-hander Mike Hauschild (1-1, 6.58). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on ESPN 1320.
