That lead didn't last long as Pulaski scored one run in the top of the second. With back-to-back walks to start the inning,
Greeneville put three runs of their own on the board in the bottom of the second, regaining the lead. First baseman
Steven Sensley started the top of the third for the Yankees with a leadoff home run on a fly ball to left center field cutting the Astros lead to 5-3. After a Chaparro walk, first baseman Eric Wagaman hit his ninth double of the season putting runners at second and third with no outs.
With no runs scored in the fourth or fifth innings, Pulaski opened up the sixth tying the game at five runs apiece. A throwing error to start the inning put a runner in scoring position. After recording two fly outs, a two-out RBI single leveled the game once again. Chaparro would give Pulaski the lead in the seventh inning on a two-run home run to left field, his second of the game.
Extending their lead, the Yankees added another three runs in the top of the eighth inning. Ryan Lidge flew out to begin the inning, but a walk and a single gave the Yankees runners on first and second with only one out. Yelson Corredera singled on a line drive to left scoring one and putting runners on the corners. Another costly error by the Astros on a ball hit to second base scored two more runs making it a 10-5 lead in favor of the Yankees.
The Astros were able to plate one run in the bottom of the ninth, but their rally was snuffed out by the Yankees. With Cody Bohanek getting hit by a pitch and Shaver walking,
