Enddy Azocar has been named the South Atlantic League Player of the Week for July 28-August 2 following a dominant offensive performance in the Greenville Drive’s six-game sweep of the Asheville Tourists.
Azocar appeared in five of the six games in Asheville and delivered at least two hits in every contest. He finished the series with 14 hits, three home runs, three doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs scored while batting .560 for the week.
The Drive outfielder provided consistent production throughout the series before punctuating his award-winning week with home runs in back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday. His Sunday homer helped Greenville close the series in style and complete a perfect 6-0 trip to Asheville.
Azocar’s combination of power, run production and consistency made him a driving force in one of Greenville’s most impressive weeks of the season. He accounted for six extra-base hits and either scored or drove in 20 runs across his five appearances.
The honor recognizes a remarkable stretch for Azocar and caps a memorable series for the Drive, who defeated the Tourists in all six games to earn the series sweep.
