Pearl, Miss. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, struggled to score on Mississippi Braves pitcher Joey Wentz (4-6, 5.05 ERA) on Wednesday, losing a 7-1 contest at Trustmark Park.

The Generals (41-35) have now dropped four of their first six games in the Second Half, while the Braves (37-38) are off to a 4-2 start after the All-Star Break.
Through the first three innings, Jackson right-hander Matt Peacock (3-3, 3.04 ERA) was a bee in Mississippi's batting helmets, inducing six groundball outs to keep the M-Braves in check. The home team was able to rock the boat in the fourth inning, as five straight men reached base on four hits and a walk to put Mississippi up, 3-0. Peacock's troubles continued after two men were out in the fifth: He permitted an RBI single, a stolen base, a walk, and an RBI triple to tilt the margin further in Mississippi's favor at 6-0. Peacock departed after walking two men with two outs in the sixth, loading the bases for reliever Matt Brill. Brill walked the first man he saw on four pitches, giving Mississippi their final run of the day for a 7-0 lead. Kevin McCanna and Galli Cribbs Jr. each offered scoreless innings of relief, with Cribbs maintaining a 0.00 ERA through his fourth appearance this season.
Offensively, there wasn't much to write home about for the Generals. They failed to record an extra-base hit, and Daulton Varsho came up with the team's lone multi-hit effort on the day. Jeffrey Baez scored Jackson's only run, coming home on a wild pitch to Drew Ellis with two outs in the seventh. The Generals are now 11-9 in day games in 2019.
